Ferntree Gully CFA are responsible for all types of fires and emergency incidents in the community, from fires, hazardous material , car accidents, house/factory and commercial fires, kids locked in cars etc;. Ferntree Gully CFA volunteer fire fighters attend regular training every Tuesday evening and Sunday morning. They also attend other specialised training courses in addition to their regular training, which may involve working with live fire in a safe and controlled environment, practice using fire extinguishers on flammable liquid fires, search and rescue in a smoke-filled building and breathing apparatus skills and maintenance. Regular, realistic training ensures CFA fire fighters remain up to the challenge of responding to community emergencies 24×7.
As well as being local residents, Ferntree Gully CFA fire-fighters are actively involved in many aspects of their community, including sporting groups, community and church groups, schools and local business.
