Interchange Outer East

Interchange Outer East provides flexible respite, recreational and social support programs and services to children and young adults with disabilities and their families, living in Melbourne’s outer east.

As an organisation with a strong volunteer emphasis, IOE offers community members the opportunity to gain skills, connect and contribute to the lives of others in their community. Interchange actively encourages inclusion and works towards the creation of opportunities for people to connect with their community.

Since its inception in 1982, Interchange Outer East has continued to grow and develop program and service options to meet the expressed needs of families involved in the service. Its governing body is comprised primarily of people who use, or are involved with the organisation, thereby ensuring members’ needs are at the forefront of planning.

Children’s Services include: Volunteer Host Program, School Holiday Program camps and activity days, a range of age specific recreation programs and community outreach coordination (Active8).

The Balanced Options for Adults Service offers Adult Recreation and Summer Holiday programs, After Work Social Groups, and Balance Post School Options.

Respite and recreational services are also able to be purchased for both children and adults, living in and out of the IOE service provision area by using a range of funding options.

Family Support Programs include Mothers’ and Fathers’ Support Groups, a Sibling Support Program, Family Camps and a monthly Interchange Disco.
